Saori's Little Gossip Column

Well, it's been a while! I don't even remember the last time I've touched this! I'll say this now, I am really quite sorry for dropping all contact for so long, but life is busy and my job keeps me travelling. I had to pull Hikaru out of Hyotei for a full four months so I could go chase a story through China.

China is one of the most frustrating places to try and track a story down, since no one is willing to talk, and I can only speak Mandarin and not Cantonese, which limited who I could interrogate for information. Still, the whole scoop's due to published on Sunday, taking the front page spread. You might be wondering why an editor would be doing any of this.

I decided that editing wasn't for me. I actually asked to be demoted back to a normal reporter. Someone who prefers prestige is in my previous seat. It means my salary is slightly less than before but I no longer have fixed hours and I no longer feel pangs about not being out there. It's made me a lot happier, I think. Hikaru's been noticing it too.

Nevertheless, he's glad to be back in Hyotei's elementary school even if I'm paying through the nose for it and I'm glad to be back where I'm in my element, reporting.
